There are some people in this world who deserve the title of being a real-life superhero and that is Peyton Hillis. While the ex-Kansas City Chiefs running back had a great bout in the NFL, his recent actions out of the NFL have gained a lot of rightful recognition. Hillis showcased some absolute bravery about 6 months ago. He was the sole reason for the survival of his own son and his niece. While he had been hospitalized for a while, the ex-running back has recovered. Furthermore, he made an appearance on an ABC News program and spoke about his jarring experience.
The running back revealed details of the scary accident that took place in January. He revealed how there was an invaluable contribution from his mother that helped him react the way he did.
The bravery of Peyton Hillis

While he was at a beach in Florida with his family, Hillis came across a very scary situation. His son and his niece had both gotten caught up in a wave that was sucking them in. The brave running back went into the ocean to save them. However, he only realized that they were in danger because of his mother.
He spoke about how his mother was able to alert him to the danger behind him. While explaining the scene, he said, “I hear my mom screaming and so I looked at her and she pointed out to my son and she said Ori and Camilla drowning and so I didn’t even think I just reacted and started running to the water.”

Hillis’s long road to Recovery
While he was able to save his son and his niece, the ex-running back had an intense health scare. While swimming back with his children, Hillis went unconscious and experienced lung and kidney failure. He was airlifted to a nearby hospital where he had to be placed on a ventilator and spent two weeks in the ICU. Hillis is taking it one day at a time and hopes to put the traumatic incident behind him.Willis was truly a hero for his child as well as his niece.
