QB Mitch Trubisky of the Pittsburgh Steelers spoke about the team’s new QB draft and mentioned that the management’s decision to take on a shot-caller during the 2022 draft had not been conveyed to him.

The Steelers drafted Kenny Pickett as the 20th overall choice during the 2022 draft.

Was Mitch Trubisky shocked at this sudden turn of events?

Former Chicago Bear Mitch Trubisky signed a two-year, $14 million deal with the Steelers in 2022. Reports state that the quarterback said he never heard from the management about a new QB being drafted.

He said, “We didn’t have those (draft) conversations, but I knew it was a possibility wherever I went.”

However, Trubisky also said that the decision didn’t surprise him as he knew the team would need to bring on new QBs. He said, “I really wasn’t surprised. We needed to add to the quarterback room, and that’s what we did.”

He also said that he knew that he would have to earn his place on the team with his hard work, talent, and leadership skills. In fact, Trubisky would now have to compete for the starting QB spot with Pickett and Mason Rudolph.

Can Trubisky become the starting QB of the Steelers?

In 2017, Trubisky was the No. 2 overall choice of the Chicago Bears. He is the best option on the Steelers roster to replace the retired Ben Roethlisberger. Trubisky has the most experienced in the NFL and is the best statistic among the current Steelers quarterbacks.

Mitchell Trubisky has started in 50 games in his career so far. He also made the Pro Bowl in 2018 after a 12-4 season with 24 touchdowns and 12 interceptions. He was initially part of the Bears and then moved on to the Buffalo Bills in 2021. And now Trubisky joins the Steelers in 2022.
