Back in February during the Super Bowl LVII celebrations, Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs promised a rerun to the title game in 2023. Well, it’s not just Mahomes and his tight end, Travis Kelce, who are confident about that outcome. The prediction algorithms also align with the quarterback’s forecast for a fourth Super Bowl appearance in five years. However, it comes at the cost of compounding miseries for America’s Team and their quarterback Dak Prescott.

Madden 23 just released their predictions for the NFL playoff scenario in the 2023-24 season. And it looks like Jerry Jones’ trophy drought will continue if the predictions are accurate. Also slated for yet another season of postseason collapse are the New York Jets, despite their new 4x MVP QB1, Aaron Rodgers. So what does the playoff prediction look like?

Patrick Mahomes and Co on the way to another Lombardi?

As per the Madden 23 NFL playoff predictions, fans will witness a showdown between the Kansas City Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers at the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas next year, with the Chiefs winning 37-24. This snubs this year’s second-best team, the Philadelphia Eagles, from winning the NFC crown, despite Jalen Hurts becoming the long-term franchise quarterback, this offseason. This definitely surprised some fans, with the Niners being the ones struggling with their QB1 role after Brock Purdy’s elbow injury. However, that wasn’t the biggest shocker.

The Dallas Cowboys received no elevation in prediction status. Madden 23 puts the Dak Prescott-led franchise at a divisional-round loss against the 49ers, just like the 2022-23 season. The Niners beat the Cowboys 19-12 in the divisional round this year. In other slots, the Eagles are slated to fall to the Cowboys in the wild-card round. The surprise package out of the NFC had to be the Atlanta Falcons with their new revamped offense. The Detroit Lions also overtook the Green Bay Packers as the NFC North favorites. Detroit will eventually fall to the 49ers in the NFC Championship, according to Madden 23.

When it comes to the AFC, Patrick Mahomes will reportedly gain an edge over his biggest rival, Joe Burrow and the Bengals in the wild-card round. Josh Allen’s Buffalo Bills are the other AFC Championship favorites. They are envisioned to beat the predicted No 1 seeded Baltimore Ravens in the divisional-round fixture.

But what about the Jets?

While it’s been over 27 years of waiting for Cowboys Country, the New York Jets lead in the trophy drought category by miles. Having last won a Super Bowl in 1969 and last made the playoffs in 2010, the Jets are falling in the wild card round this year to the Jacksonville Jaguars, as per the predictions. This is in stark contrast to Gang Green’s expectations of a Super Bowl contention with Super Bowl XLV MVP Aaron Rodgers.
