Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers have come a long way from what they were a couple of weeks ago. At a point in the season, fans speculated if Rodgers’ time was up, and entertained the video of backup Jordan Love taking the reins.

Teetering merely an inch away from playoff elimination, the veteran QB has bounced back to get into playoff contention. Rodgers is undoubtedly pleased with the outcome, but despite having bigger things to worry about, he took a moment to remark on something that would seem insignificant to others.

A-Rod is undoubtedly a word buff. As an avid reader, the QB has a soft spot for words and their significance. This exact trait came to light during the QB’s press conference post their victory over the Vikings. Minnesota, who has been dominant all season, experienced a loss many wouldn’t have seen coming. A 41-17 blowout over a divisional rival says a lot about a team. But, the Vikings have already clinched the NFC North. At the moment, they have a lot less to worry about compared to the Packers. Currently at 8-8, Green Bay will face divisional rivals, the Detroit Lions in their next game. The two teams are tied for second place in their division.

Placed in a ‘win or go home’ situation, Rodgers has a lot riding on this game. While conversing with the press, Rodgers was asked, “Are there things you can do to keep the momentum going this week or is it basically just inertia?” Usually, players take a moment to consider the question before providing a suitable response. But Rodgers pushed that aside to remark on the reporter’s choice of words.

The vocabulary geek within couldn’t resist appreciating the reporter’s use of the word inertia. Rodgers said, “That’s a good word on the bingo card, Pete..” He also added, “I think there is a lot of inertia but you gotta restart, you know it starts all over. Come Sunday, if they put us Sunday night it’ll be pretty special.” This is not the first time the NFL has witnessed Rodgers’ enthusiasm around words.

The veteran QB has also provided the NFL world with some unforgettable gems. While discrediting Kalyan Kahler’ story for The Atlantic, Rodgers’ description of the piece had fans cackling with delight. Phrases like “exaggerated nothingness” and “nothing burger” can be credited alongside the QB’s accomplishments. But Kahler stood her ground. The senior NFL writer added Rodgers’ negative comments about her article to her Twitter bio alongside other professional details.
