The Jets were highly interested in Hill. Of course, why wouldn’t they be? Fans know the athlete as ‘Cheetah’ for his mind-blowing speed. But to the eye of the receiver, Miami looked like the best option. But why?
An enticing deal
Previously, the All-Pro wide receiver played with the Kansas City Chiefs and their lead quarterback Patrick Mahomes. However, earlier this year, the Chiefs traded Hill to the Miami Dolphins. The blockbuster deal made him the highest-paid WR in the league’s history.
The $120 million worth contract is a four-year agreement that includes a $72.2 million guarantee. And against the star wide-out, Kansas City got first-round, second-round, and fourth-round picks. Also, in the 2023 draft pick, K.C. will get a fourth-round pick and a sixth-round pick.
Then, while speaking to reporters, Tyreek Hill talked about his deal, which was “very close to happening.” However, the deal fell out because of an important reason. He said, “It’s just those state taxes, man. I realized I had to make a grown-up decision. And now here I am in the great city of Miami, you know, great weather, great people, beautiful people, I feel like. So, here I am.”

An important reason, indeed. Seeing this, the fans could not stop themselves from reacting and giving their own two cents.

He saved himself multi-millions. He got 52.5m at signing, in NY/NJ that’s over 5m of state tax in 2022, in FL it’s 0

Even though the New York Jets could not acquire the six-time Pro Bowler, they added the talented tenth overall pick, Garrett Wilson, to their roster. With the Dolphins, Hill has four touchdowns and 31 receptions for 477 receiving yards till now.
