A few days ago, shocking news rippled through the NFL world as reports surfaced of the former Buccaneers wide receiver’s tragic demise following an accident. The announcement of Mike Williams’ death left many in disbelief, leading to an outpouring of condolences to his grieving family. However, the most recent updates from various sources have refuted these reports, citing them as nothing more than fab. Fortunately, Mike Williams is alive, although he remains under close medical supervision.
Williams, at the age of 36, suffered severe injuries in an accident at a construction site just last week. Currently, he lies in the intensive care unit (ICU) at St. Joseph’s Hospital, fighting for his recovery. While he battles to regain his health, his eight-year-old daughter eagerly awaits her father’s speedy return to life.

The accident, which occurred in Hillsborough County, has left Williams in mostly an unresponsive state. As he continues his hospital stay, his 8-year-old daughter, Mya, along with her mother, Tierney Lyle, paid a visit. The Tampa Bay Times recounted the emotional encounter, where Williams stirred from his nap upon hearing his daughter’s voice. Lyle described the heartwrenching scene, stating, “He looked around, blinked, and tears welled up in his eyes, but he couldn’t move.”

Only time will reveal how long the WR should resort to life support. Initially, the medical team had hoped to remove him from life support by now, but his condition made it challenging at the moment.
The wide receiver, a Buffalo native, was a star in his own right at Syracuse before he was nabbed as a draft pick in the fourth round of the 2010 NFL Draft by the Buccaneers. He did not disappoint in his debut year at Tampa Bay, catching 65 passes for 964 yards and 11 touchdowns and finishing second in Offensive Rookie of the Year voting.

Reports deny a fundraising campaign for the WR
In a concerning development, recent reports have also questioned the legitimacy of a fundraising campaign created claiming to support Williams. Numerous outlets have confirmed that a GoFundMe page has been set up, seemingly by Williams’ father, to collect contributions for covering travel expenses to visit his ‘son.’

At the time of this report, the page has already raised an amount over $4,000. However, a close family friend of Williams has denied the legitimacy of this campaign, stating that it is not linked to the immediate family, and nobody in the immediate family is familiar with the organizer of said GoFundMe.
