Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin has been the standard for the standard of all NFL head coaches. With the victory over the Cleveland Browns on Monday, Tomlin secured his NFL-record 15th consecutive non-losing season.

The Steelers improved their record to 8-7-1 with one game remaining and postseason a real possibility. The late great Marty Schottenheimer held this honor by achieving the same during his time with the Browns and Chiefs from 1984 to ’97. Tomlin possesses a unique CV in the modern era because he was the youngest coach to win a Super Bowl at age 36.

He also became the 20th coach to accumulate 150 career game wins. The 49-year-old coach required only 232 games to attain 150 wins, making him the 4th fastest to reach the milestone.

Mike Tomlin: A commanding presence

While speaking about his 150 wins achievement, he states, “All of us are here. That standard is inspirational for us. It inspires us, it challenges us. I’m just thankful to be a part of this thing that is the Pittsburgh Steelers. I do my job to uphold the standard.” A demanding coach who has been a leader from the sidelines, Tomlin has been a driving force along with Big Ben for the Steelers.

Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker TJ Watt echoes the team’s admiration of his commanding presence, stating, “His, ‘Good evening.’ That deep voice, just very commanding. Watt explains the team’s willingness ‘to run through a wall after every meeting’ while Tomlin is dictating and sharing his game plan with everyone in the locker room.
