After several months of negotiations, the White House and Kremlin reached a mutual agreement of a one-for-one prisoner swap on Griner’s case. In exchange for the WNBA star, Russia demanded the release of arms dealer Viktor Bout.
Although this news caught headlines pretty soon in bold capital letters, former US Marine Paul Whelan’s family wasn’t able to assimilate this update because the veteran was imprisoned in a foreign country for years after getting caught in 2018.

We never stopped pushing for her release.” he added.
The 33-year-old has remained a hot subject since the day, she got into Russian custody. The government vowed to take every possible step, and certainly, they were successful in getting her out; however, losing their leverage to negotiate for Paul Whelan.

Meanwhile, a few fans supported the linebacker.
