It was an occasion to remember for starry-eyed Miami Dolphins rookie Tua Tagovailoa. The highly-rated quarterback made the first start of his NFL career on Sunday. Tagovailoa starred as the Dolphins defeated a strong Los Angeles Rams outfit in Week 8.

The home team registered a 28-17 win at the Hard Rock Stadium to cement their number two spot in the AFC East Division table. However, coach Brian Flores had his defensive stars to thank for this win.

The likes of Christian Wilkins, Xavien Howard, Eric Rowe, Shaq Lawson, and Emmanuel Ogbah made crucial defensive plays over the course of the game to keep the momentum with the home team. But a former NFL star-turned-analyst claims that today’s impressive defensive display was linked to the arrival of Tua Tagovailoa.

Miami Dolphins pull off a stunning win thanks to Tua Tagovailoa

The Miami Dolphins defense was completely unplayable today. They were relentless. They showed no signs of slowing down, right down till the end of the fourth quarter.

If Los Angeles Rams had Aaron Donald and Jalen Ramsey, the Dolphins had Eric Rowe and Christian Wilkins who made important interceptions on Sunday.

Former Indianapolis Colts kicker, Pat McAfee, was quick to point out how the defenders seemed to thrive off Tua’s energy from the first half.  “Is the Miami defense rallying around Tua?”, McAfee tweeted on the social media site Twitter.

It certainly looked like the home defense was in no mood to let anything slip past them on Sunday. Dolphins defensive coordinator Josh Boyer deserves credit for the win. He shaped his defensive line well as they successfully tackled the likes of Jared Goff and Cooper Kupp.

The Rams will battle on for a playoff spot after today’s morale-boosting win at the Hard Rock Stadium. Brian Flores will hope that the ‘Tua Magic’ continues when the Dolphins take on the Kyler Murray-led Arizona Cardinals next weekend.
