It is said that the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. So, it should be no surprise that Patrick Mahomes’ daughter is showing some early signs of athleticism.

Now whether she decides to take up sports as a profession or not is a thing for the future. And according to Mahomes, he won’t force her to.

Daughter of Patrick Mahomes is into soccer already

Patrick Mahomes needs no introduction to the world of sports. The Kansas City Chiefs quarterback is a Super Bowl champion. But what many people don’t know is that his wife Brittany was a professional soccer player. And all indications are that their 1-year-old daughter Sterling is following in her mother’s footsteps.

Mahomes revealed in a recent interview that Sterling is already kicking the soccer ball around. Speaking on the “Rich Eisen Show”, he talked at length about his daughter’s skills. “You know Brittany is a co-owner of the women’s soccer team out here in Kansas City, the Kansas City Current, so we go to a lot of their games, we go to some of their practices,” Mahomes said on how Sterling came to like soccer.

“It was really cool to see that we didn’t even really teach Sterling how to kick a soccer ball. She just kind of saw one and went up and started kicking it. So now, every time she sees one, she does that and kind of dribbles it and just from watching those girls play. And so, it’s definitely really cool to see. Me, I don’t want to force her to be an athlete, but to see those tendencies early is definitely cool.” The Super Bowl champion went on to say.

Soccer scholarship for Sterling

Sterling wasn’t even a month old when she received an offer for a soccer scholarship from Texas Tech. The University offered the youngest of the Mahomes a spot on their college soccer team for the year 2039 last year. And hearing from Patrick Mahomes about her soccer skills, it feels like Texas Tech were onto something.

The scholarship offer came with a letter of intent too, but all guesses are that it was a marketing ploy by the university. But it could really turn into something serious if Sterling continues her newfound passion for soccer.

As for her father, Patrick Mahomes is chasing another Super Bowl ring with the Chiefs this season. They are 4-2 after six games and sit at the top of the AFC West table. The Chiefs take on the San Francisco 49ers in game week seven.
