Since making his debut in 2009, Matthew Stafford has gone on to establish himself as one of the most consistent quarterbacks in the NFL over the last decade.
His best season as a Detroit Lions player came in 2011 when Stafford threw for 5,038 yards with 41 passing touchdowns. He sat out the 2019 season due to injuries but came back all guns blazing in 2020.
Stafford ended the season with 4,084 passing yards, 26 passing TDs, and 10 interceptions. After 11 seasons with the Lions, Stafford was allowed to move to NFC West franchise Los Angeles Rams this summer. He was part of a trade deal in exchange for Jared Goff, a 2021 3rd-round pick, and two 1st-round picks in 2022 and 2023.

Matthew Stafford eager to make Los Angeles Rams debut
Speaking to the media after arriving in Los Angeles over the weekend, veteran NFL quarterback Matthew Stafford heaped praise on his new organization while adding that he looked forward to achieving big things with the Rams in the coming years.
He said, “It’s exciting, it’s something that drew me as a, I guess, tradeable asset at some point that the Rams were a team that were proven winners, had done it quite consistently over the last four or five years, something that was exciting to me.
“And obviously being on the other end of that, not having too many playoff chances under my belt is frustrating. It’s tough. You play this game for success as a team and you want to win games and be in those big moments, so I’m excited to hopefully have that opportunity.

“That isn’t guaranteed to us. Just because it happened in years past doesn’t mean it’s going to happen again. We’ve got to go out there and earn it, and I’m going to do everything I can to make sure we earn it,” Stafford said on Sunday, during his introductory press meet.
The Rams boast of one of the strongest defensive teams in the league. The likes of DE Aaron Donald and CB Jalen Ramsey are arguably the two best players in those respective positions.
Coach Sean McVay was on the lookout for a proven quarterback in order to boost his team’s title chances. In Matthew Stafford, they have found what they’ve been searching for.
