According to an article by Rich Cimini for ESPN, with the Green Bay Packers last year, Aaron Rodgers signed a three-year $150 million extension. If this was to be in play, then the Jets would have had around $15.8 million in cap charge. But before the trade pulled through, Rodgers and the Packers restructured his contract, converting a $58.3 million option bonus payable in 2023, into a base salary for 2024. Because of this, Rodgers will be making around $1.165 million only this year, which is also equivalent to his cap charge.

But there is a silver lining to it. By moving the option bonus to the next year, Rodgers is expected to be receiving compensation of around a whopping $107 million in 2024. How, you ask? Because this includes the original $47 million option bonus, $1.21 million in minimum salary, and the $58.4 million option bonus that was moved to next year.

During a news conference post-draft, HC Robert Saleh was asked about how he felt during the whole eventful week for the Jets. Saleh said while smiling, “It’s been a fun week, a fun week. To get Aaron here, it’s a blessing.” Aaron Rodgers has had only a light session of throwing in phase one of the off-season program. Apart from this, he still has to have a full-on training session with the Jets squad. But Saleh stated that his presence has already made an impact at the facility.
