Former Seattle Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch was one of the most popular athletes, who had a reputation for being a physical player. Because of his size and stature, many called him ‘Beast Mode’. While playing for the Seahawks, he often grabbed plenty of headlines because of his unwillingness to speak to the media. And that has been the case throughout his whole career. In a recent podcast, Lynch opened up about the hefty amount of money he paid as fines.

Many still remember his infamous line, “I’m here so I don’t get fined.” He recently made an appearance in the ‘I Am Athlete’ podcast, where he opened up about receiving a big sum of fines from the NFL throughout his career, which could shock anybody.

In the podcast, Lynch revealed, It got up to a pretty penny… $1.2 million… from just not talking to the media.

The other hosts looked shocked after hearing the sum of the amount. Notably, Lynch was a really popular player on the field and his connection with QB Russell Wilson created havoc in the league a few years back. Hence many people wanted to know more about Lynch. However, he was not a big fan of the media asking him questions; that’s why he avoided the media most of the time.

During the Super Bowl 49 media day, Lynch appeared on the presser and his answer to every single question was, “I’m here so I don’t get fined.”

As per him, he did not avoid a fine from the NFL, as he did get a massive fine from the NFL. It seems like, he has changed his mind quite a bit now, as he is appearing on TV and podcasts and grabbing headlines once again for his unconventional ways of talking.

NFL fans showed their displeasure at the NFL after Lynch’s revelation

After Lynch’s comments surfaced on the internet, many fans on social media showed their frustration at the NFL for punishing the RB. One fan wrote, So ridiculous. Media on their high horse when someone doesn’t want to talk, then rips them when they give generic answers, it’s such a clown show.

“Nfl really is an L for this,” another user commented. A few fans felt really shocked after hearing the amount of money he paid for just not talking to the media. A fan questioned, Who knew you could be fined for NOT talking?

Meanwhile, many fans showed support for the former Seahawks RB. Haha lynch the goat for this,” one user wrote. Some fans actually talked about missing him. On the other hand, one fan remembered his press conference and called it, “Forever GOLD.”

It is worth noting that Lynch played in the NFL for 12 seasons. He spent most of that time with the Seahawks and won a Super Bowl with them as well. In 2019, he decided to come back to the Seahawks and announced his retirement.
