The Philly special turned out to be a nightmare for the Bengals in Week 5. Joe Burrow and Co tried to execute the trick play on Sunday; however, it flipped miserably, all thanks to All-Pro cornerback Marcus Peters, who foiled their plans with a mighty tackle. This gave the Ravens a chance, a brag for a lifetime, and most importantly, the crucial point to update their season record.

The NFL world went crazy after Cincinnati’s failed execution took rounds over the internet. These days everyone is aware of this trick play, and perhaps that might be the reason why the Bengals couldn’t succeed.
It was one of the boldest plays in NFL history executed for the first time in the Super Bowl game of 2018. Nick Foles was the Eagle’s quarterback, and the plan was devised in the final moments of the game. Foles was the receiving target, but in Sunday’s game, Burrow couldn’t replicate a similar shotgun formation.
Last season, the Ravens had to face a frustrating loss against the Bengals, with Joe Burrow taking on a depleting defense and receiver corps of the Ravens. The four touchdowns by the quarterback brought the game to his side, and as the fans say, a comeback was necessary for Lamar Jackson. And guess what? Peters had it the right way.
“That was a big play,” Baltimore coach John Harbaugh said. “Marcus made a great football play. … The thing was covered. I thought we did a great job out there covering the quarterback on that,” he added to his explanation.
NFL world reacts to Marcus Peters and his impressive gameplay
To some extent, this was the turning point of the game and might have cost the Bengals a win. However, Burrow was able to complete the pass to Ja’Marr Chase on third down. “It didn’t quite work out how we wanted it to on the shovel play, but I felt comfortable with our package,” Cincinnati coach Zac Taylor said about the play. However, fans were mesmerized to see Peters taking down the Bengals’ wideout. One of the Twitter user analyzed the play closely.
