The Seattle Seahawks started their new era without Russell Wilson as their quarterback. Considering his departure, the draft was crucial for the Seahawks this year. Surprisingly, they decided not to draft a single quarterback. However, one of their new player Coby Bryant was in the news for obvious reasons.
Coby, the 6’1 tall cornerback from the Cincinnati Bearcats, has a name similar to a sporting icon. Since his name is identical to the Los Angeles Lakers legend, the late great Kobe Bryant, he was bound to be in the news.

The CB himself claimed that he was named after the Lakers legend, but he wants to build his own legacy in this game. The Seahawks fans are very excited to have him on their team.
Coby Bryant was drafted with the 4th pick in the 4th round of the NFL Draft 2022. He was an underrated player on the Bearcats, as Ahmad ‘Sauce’ Gardner was the most high-profile player on the team. As a result, the Seahawks were able to get him so late in the draft.

However, whether or not he’ll play like the player that he was named after will only be found out when we get to see him in action. During his draft combine, he ran the 40-yard dash in 4.54 seconds only. Apart from being 6’1 tall, he weighs 193 lbs and has an arm length of 30 5/8″ inches. As a result, all these tangibles make him look like a serious talent.

Coby explained the reason why he was named ‘Coby’ instead of ‘Kobe’ and said, “My parents wanted me to have my own name. They wanted my own way, my own journey. Wanted me to represent my name the best way I could.”
Unsurprisingly, he also knows he has to live up to the name and show the world that he is a great player. Coby said, “It’s a privilege – I have to work twice as hard to live up to that name.”
