Star LSU Recruit and Future NFL Prospect Lands in Big Trouble With Misdemeanor Charges

LSU’s star wide receiver Malik Nabers has recently found himself in hot water after being charged with illegally carrying a weapon. The 19-year-old was taken into custody by the New Orleans Police Department on Monday and was released the following day.

Nabers was a highly touted four-star recruit out of high school. He made an immediate impact as a freshman in 2021. However, he truly broke out in his sophomore season this past year, logging an impressive 1,017 receiving yards and 3 TDs. He led the team in both catches and yards. He’s generally seen to be amongst LSU’s leading prospects coming into next season.

With his impressive performance on the field, Nabers has caught the attention of NFL scouts and is viewed as a future prospect in the draft. However, this recent legal trouble may put a damper on his prospects. Carrying a weapon without a proper license or permit is a serious offense and can result in significant legal consequences.

It is unclear when Nabers will be back with the LSU team, but given the length of the offseason, he certainly has time to make his way back. He shall certainly play a major role for the LSU Tigers in the upcoming season, as he will look to increase his stake as an NFL bound prospect.
