The 2023 free agency will be an interesting watch for every fan. Many stars will enter free agency and many franchises are working to avoid it. One of the football players is a young QB who wants a contract worth $45 million a year, something that the likes of Patrick Mahomes get. But the NFL world is unhappy with him potentially getting that kind of money at this stage of his career.
The 25-year-old QB commandeered his franchise to the playoffs and wants the powers that be to acknowledge the work that he has put in for them. The team’s trip to the postseason for the first time in six seasons was quite an achievement, but is it worthy enough to earn him a Patrick Mahomes-like deal?

The Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes signed a huge contract with the franchise on the back of his Super Bowl win in 2020. Although many expected him to sign for big money, the length of the contract stunned the NFL world. Mahomes signed a 10-year deal with the Chiefs worth $450 million. That means his average annual salary is a whopping $45 million. However, Mahomes has justified his big-money contract.
He has led the team to the AFC championship game in every season as a starter. The Chiefs have had three Super Bowl appearances in the last four seasons and have won the big game twice.
Daniel Jones, however, doesn’t have such results to back his claim. He has made the playoffs just once since making his bow in the NFL. This came in the 2022 NFL season where the QB led the Giants to nine wins in the 16 games he played in the regular season.
Now that he is heading to free agency, he reportedly wants a $45 million-a-year contract. But his demand is not sitting well with the NFL world.
NFL world unhappy with Daniel Jones’ demand
Some of the fan reactions to this news have not been positive, with many demanding that the New York Giants let Daniel Jones go. Some other fans even took the opportunity to blame other franchises for ruining the market for everyone.

One fan even name-dropped Lamar Jackson and the Ravens when replying to this tweet.
Daniel Jones making $45M a year wouldn't sit right. A QB of his level shouldn't be making Mahomes $
A QB paid that much should be *the* reason his team wins, the 'bus driver'
Teams should realize its better not to pay that much to non-elite QBs and start over with a rookie deal

This fan wants the Giants to let go of Daniel Jones as, according to them; he has nothing unique to offer.
Honestly the smartest thing the Giants could do is let him go. I don’t think they lose much by letting him go, he can easily be replaced. He doesn’t bring anything special, unique or irreplaceable to the table. He would probably only get a start on about four or five teams.

Another fan brings Lamar Jackson into the conversation to compare situations.
If Jones can get 45 million a year. Then the ravens have no excuse to not pay lamar
Trubisky was better with the bears with a worse coach and team than jones

This fan has a question to ask about Jones and his abilities.
What’s the difference between Kyler and Daniel Jones?

Another fan wants the Giants to cut Jones loose and shouldn’t pay him that kind of money.
Just a reminder that Mahomes is only the 6th out of the last 22 QBs to win the Super Bowl to even be top 10 in a salary so if the giants can’t get Jones for $38 mil a year, I’d say cut him loose

This fan says the blame lies with the Cleveland Browns for the market situation.
Deshaun Watson makes $46M a year. Blame the Browns for where the market is

Another fan wants teams to press reset if a QB costs this much.
If that becomes what a QB costs I’d want my team to reset and draft someone until one sticks.

The Giants did fare well with Jones under center and claimed a playoff win against the Minnesota Vikings. But does that justify the young QB getting as much as the NFL and Super Bowl MVP?
