The popular music reality show, The Voice, is in its 22nd season. The show is famous for being a gateway for budding music talent to make it to the top. This season also marks the twenty-second season for coach Blake Shelton on the show. The greatness of Tom Brady somehow got his name echoing even on the sets of this TV show.

As the four coaches look to battle it to the top, three of them recognized the possibility of a secret weapon in Blake Shelton’s arsenal. In the first round of auditions, Michigan-based 15-year-old Brayden Lape had the judges in absolute splits.

There’s a Tom Brady off the field

During the blind audition, only Coach Blake Shelton turned around as Brayden performed. The high school student performed Niall Horan’s ‘This Town.’ As he mesmerized the judges with his voice, John Legend pronounced him Blake Shelton’s Tom Brady. “You got yourself a Tom Brady,” said the ‘All of me’ sensation to Shelton.

As he used Brady as a benchmark for greatness, little did Legend know about the young singer’s actual coincidence with the legendary quarterback. On questioning the 15-year-old, they found out he was a tri-sport athlete. The Michigan boy plays football, basketball, and baseball for his high school team. Turns out, Brayden was also the quarterback for the team.

Is it written in the stars for Brayden Lape?

Tom Brady was also a tri-sport athlete for his high school in San Mateo, California. He grew up playing the same sports as Brayden. If this wasn’t enough coincidence, Brady attended the University of Michigan. Lape is also from the Michigan area.

In a truly poetic way, John Legend metaphorically Lape’s presence on Shelton’s team. Tom Brady was drafted in the sixth round of the 2000 NFL Draft. Every team apart from the New England Patriots passed on the Michigan quarterback. Similarly, all judges but Blake Shelton passed Brayden in the blind audition round.

Just as this turned out to be the biggest reason for the Patriots’ success, John Legend’s comment could have a similar meaning. Brayden could be the reason for Blake Shelton’s success in this season of ‘The Voice.’

It’s no news that Brady’s legacy lives on beyond the NFL and sports community. He is a synonym for greatness, as he keeps setting new records even at the age of 45. As The Voice rolls out more episodes for the season, the high school sophomore could go all the way to win the show. The 15-year-old checks a lot of boxes similar to Brady’s. However, time will tell if he can also call himself a champion, as the NFL legend can.
