The New England Patriots have hit a rough patch in their offensive firepower ever since Tom Brady decided to pack his bags and shift over to the coasts of Tampa Bay. After all, Brady and Coach Bill Belichick had been the face of the franchise for two decades. Brady lead the Patriots to six Super Bowls and cemented his status as the GOAT. With Brady gone, the Patriots found the face of their future in Mac Jones. But over the two years that Jones has spent in Boston, all has not been well.
The Belichick system is an integral part of the Patriots organization, especially since the days of Tom Brady. Being a part of the system is part and parcel of being a Patriots player. But learning the system isn’t always easy, and Jones found out the hard way.

Tensions are high, and the pressure is on within the Patriots organization. Coach Bill Belichick is reportedly still upset over second-year quarterback Mac Jones’ ‘outsider’ interference from last season. Jones has been under fire within the Patriots from Coach Belichick after the QB opted to ask for help on running the team’s offense, from non-Patriot sources.
Tom E. Curran reveals that Coach Belichick was really pissed off at Mac Jones for going outside the building for advice on how to run the offense.

Belichick remains ‘pissed off’ with Jones, even though nearly half a year has passed since the incident. And the reason is obvious. For Bill, disloyalty to the system is perhaps a bigger crime to the team than a bad play.
But fans haven’t taken all that well to Bill’s berate either. For many fans, the criticism of Jones from Bill is unfounded in despairing faith in the system.
You put a defensive coordinator in charge of the offense, well gee I wonder why he sought outside help.

Another fan couldn’t believe Bill Belichick was still mad about the incident.
bros mad at his QB for trying to get better 😭

I would be mad too if my OC is a DC

Another fan had to jump in to support Jones for Belichick’s coaching hires.
Wonder how Mac felt when Belichick seeked out Matt Patricia to be Jones’ OC

Fans certainly aren’t a fan of Bill’s archaic system by the looks of it. With every passing day, the ‘Patriot Way’ seems to have breathed its last.

For years on end, the Patriots and its team members have been bound by the system set in place by Bill Belichick. But with Mac Jones opposing the long-running system, as it bares no fruit, the ‘Patriot Way’ is perhaps on its last legs. It seems like the charm of success has finally left the veteran coach.
