Football – which is considered as one of the major pillars of American culture – has also fallen prey to the deadly virus. There are rumors that fans will not be permitted inside stadiums, which is rather unprecedented.

LSU coach Ed Orgeron claims America ‘needs football’ amid pandemic

LSU Head Coach, Ed Orgeron, met with Vice President Mike Pence on Tuesday at Baton Rouge. The veteran football coach spoke about how it was important to open Louisiana schools, during a roundtable discussion at the Tiger Stadium.

 

“We need to play. This state needs it. This country needs it. This [Coronavirus] can be handled. I don’t think we can take this away from our players, take this away from our state and our country.

“We need football. Football is the lifeblood of our country. We have our team back, ready to go. We need football,” Orgeron said as per ESPN.

University of Oklahoma coach Lincoln Riley hopeful for college football season

The Oklahoma Sooners have exerted a dynastic dominance over the college football scene for the last five years. Three of their former players are now in the NFL, Baker Mayfield, Jalen Hurts, and Kyler Murray.

Therefore, Coach Lincoln Riley is popularly known as the ‘quarterback whisperer’. As reported by ESPN, Riley is optimistic that this season’s college football will go as planned.

“I just can’t imagine a scenario [where we don’t explore every option to play]. Whether it’s something we do in the fall, whether it’s a shortened season, whether it’s spring, there’s nothing we should take off the table.

“Regardless of what we have to do, I don’t think there’s anything we can’t work around and we can’t adjust and can’t make work in order to play college football. We’ve all got to do our part on that,” Riley said.
