Jalen Hurts and the Philadelphia Eagles are having a dream season. The Birds are currently the only remaining unbeaten team in the league after a convincing win over the Houston Texans. However, the 24-year-old quarterback doesn’t want to repeat any old mistakes this time.

The Philadelphia Eagles quarterback is proud of the Bird’s historic run this season. However, Hurts said in a post-match presser that it’s important to keep heads down and focus on winning the Super Bowl. “We haven’t accomplished anything yet,” Jalen said.
Jalen Hurts doesn’t want to get complacent
Jalen Hurts put on a show in his first game at the NRG Stadium. He threw for 243 yards with a 77% completion rate and 2 touchdowns. The Philadelphia Eagles extended their winning run to 8-0 for the first time in the franchise’s 90-year history. A J Brown and Dallas Goedert shined in the receiving department for the Eagles. RB Miles Sanders also had his third back-to-back rushing touchdown game this NFL season in the 29-17 win over the Houston Texans.
Jalen Hurts thinks it’s best not to get carried away because the job hasn’t been completed yet. “I’ve been 8-0 before and lost the national championship. Just take it day by day,” the quarterback said. Eagles center Jason Kelce also said after the Texans game that it’s best not to get carried away and continue to work for the franchise’s second Super Bowl.
Historically, only eight teams started the season 8-0 have ever gone on to win the Super Bowl. The last ten teams who started 8-0 didn’t win the Super Bowl. The last team to achieve this feat was Drew Brees and the New Orleans Saints in 2009. So Jalen Hurts has every reason to be worried in spite of the MVP-calibre season he is currently having.

What can the Eagles improve upon?
The Philly defense has been outstanding this season. They lead the NFL currently in takeaways (18) compared to the 16 from the entire 2021 season. However, Jalen Hurts thinks there’s still room for improvement. The Texans scored on their opening drive for the first time this season. Houston rookie Dameon Pierce also ran through the Philly defense for 139 yards, which is the most by a rookie since 2014.
The 2018 Super Bowl champions currently sit at the top of the NFC East. Jalen Hurts has already received tons of praise for his performance this season. He has over 2000 passing yards after Week 9 with only two interceptions. Texans head coach Lovie Smith also heaped praises on the young Hurts, saying, “I think he’s improved more, maybe more than every player in the NFL.”
