The NFL was shaken after learning about the recent incident of the tragic demise of former UCF running back Otis Anderson Jr. and the Los Angeles Rams took to Twitter to pay respects to the young lost soul. The 23-year-old was reportedly shot dead by his father Otis Anderson Sr. over a dog bite incident, officials said Tuesday.

The tragic incident that claimed the life of Otis Anderson Jr.
Gunshots were heard before 9:30 pm on Monday in northwest Jacksonville. Following which two victims with gunshot wounds were rushed to the hospital. One of them was pronounced dead, later reported to be the former college football standout Otis Anderson Jr. Although the names were not immediately disclosed until the court documents later identified the suspect to be Otis Anderson Sr.
The former Knights star running back succumbed to the gunshot injuries. According to the report, “Otis Lee Anderson Sr. got bit by (the victim’s) girlfriend’s dog” and “was bleeding throughout the house.” Following some arguments over the matter, Anderson Sr. in his report said, “Anderson Jr. charged at him” although it was not clear if the suspect was claiming self-defense.

Otis Anderson Sr. was later booked on suspicion of second-degree murder and attempted second-degree murder of wife Denise Anderson. It was very shocking for the football community to learn about this unfortunate incident.
Los Angeles Rams, and UCF pays respects to the lost soul
“We have now confirmed and are devastated to hear of the passing of Otis Anderson Jr. He was revered by his teammates, our fans, and everyone within Knight Nation,” according to a UCF statement. “Our deepest condolences go out to everyone who loved Otis. He was taken too soon and will truly be missed.”

Anderson Jr. made a name out of himself after he rushed for 2,182 yards during his four-year UCF career, becoming the ninth most prolific rusher in school history. Anderson was not drafted by the Los Angeles Rams although he did spend his last training camp with them before he was cut.
