Looking Into Aaron Rodgers’ Contract With Green Bay Packers As $150 Million Contract Starts Looking Unworthy

The clock is ticking, but the results are not working for the Packers. On Sunday, Aaron Rodgers and Co. suffered their fifth straight loss. Their 15-9 defeat came against the Lions in Detroit. Shane Zylstra and his brother Brandon rose to the occasion for the winners. Meanwhile, A-Rod had a forgettable encounter. 

In all, he threw three interceptions. Each of them came during their respective drives. The 38 YO failing in big time has made his team vulnerable. The top star has not picked up the pace. Notably, he is not in the top league of QBs. Many analysts wonder whether A-Rod is fit enough to play.

The Packers and Aaron Rodgers are moving in two directions

After a series of injuries to top stars, the former Super Bowl winners expected a responsible approach by Packers #12. In the 2022 season, A-Rod recorded only 14 TDs and, notably, his QB rating is 36.3, placing him in the 27th position.

The superstar has not given up playoff dreams, but the fans ask when the team is going to step up its offense and defense.

The Packers are in a precarious position after naming A-Rod as their impact player. His lack of form has been reflected in the team’s performance. His competitor Tom Brady has bounced back in the Rams game. But Rodgers looks down and out. The 38 YO admitted he was feeling tired. Matt LaFleur and his men need to motivate the star to ensure the team gets back to the rhythm. 

When A-Rod and the Packers struck a deal

Packers GM Brian Gutekunst was happy about the deal with Aaron Rodgers. They extended the contract on March 15, 2022. “His play on the field and leadership in our locker room remain vital in our pursuit of another Super Bowl title,” Gutekunst said. Previously, A-Rod was all set to earn a base salary of $26.47 million in 2022, with a salary-cap number of $46.664 million.

The new deal ensured the QB will earn $42 million in 2022, $59.515 million in 2023, and $49.3 million in 2024. This would get him to the three-year, $150.815 million mark. After three years, he could retire at 41 YO or the talented team can rework the deal.

However, the dream of a Super Bowl win is slowly fading away. The Packers and A-Rod are toiling, but with no luck. Will the good old days come back? Packers fans and Rodgers hope so because A-Rod is a man of comebacks.
