DeAndre Hopkins spent 6 years with the Houston Texans before deciding to move on in search of success. The veteran wide receiver joined the Arizona Cardinals last year in a deal that was touted as ‘the worst NFL trade of all time’ from a Texans perspective.

Now, the former Clemson Tigers man is interested in luring former Texans teammate JJ Watt to the Cardinals this offseason.

Earlier this month, Watt and the Texans mutually agreed to part ways owing to a disastrous outing in the 2020 NFL season. Watt will turn 32 in March but is still regarded as one of the best defensive ends in the league.

DeAndre Hopkins is the latest to try to recruit JJ Watt this month

After an injury-ravaged 2019 season, Watt returned to the starting line-up of the Texans last year. Playing under former coach/GM Bill O’Brien, Houston suffered four back-to-back losses at the start of the 2020 NFL season.

They made a slight improvement under Interim Head Coach Romeo Crennel, but ended their campaign with a 4-12 record.

They finished third in the AFC South behind Tennessee Titans and the Indianapolis Colts. Watt finished the season with 5 sacks, 2 forced fumbles, and 1 interception. But Hopkins knows the impact Watt can make if he signs for the Cardinals in the coming weeks.

Hopkins appealed to Watt, asking him to ‘Finish what we started’ while referencing their time with the Houston Texans. The former Central Michigan and Wisconsin defensive star, JJ Watt, is being linked to the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Green Bay Packers, as well.

He is reportedly considering a move to the Cleveland Browns. Even Tennessee Titans GM Jon Robinson confirmed that they have made contact with Watt regarding a potential move in the summer.
