Antonio Brown has seen a lot of trouble. So it makes sense that he relates to other star athletes during their sensitive times. The former Steeler and Buccaneers wide receiver recently tweeted in support of Kyrie Irving after the Brooklyn Nets point guard’s suspension.

Brown urged the NBA to rescind Kyrie Irving’s suspension. The NBA Champion promoted a controversial documentary and landed himself in considerable trouble. AB tweeted, “let Kyrie Irving Play. True Greatness to Witness Superhero. Please don’t cancel him, he said his piece.” AB also changed his profile picture on Twitter to a picture of Kyrie Irving.
If anyone could relate to Kyrie, that’s Antonio Brown
Brown was fast, strong, and nearly unguardable on the football field. However, his off-court antics are nothing short of controversial. Son of a football player, AB was a multi-threat offensive force in college and played as a rushing back, receiver, and even quarterback.
In his NFL career, Brown became the first choice for the Steelers and had more than 10,000 receiving yards with Pittsburgh before joining Tom Brady and the Buccaneers to win a Super Bowl.
It’s safe to say AB in his prime was just as talented as Kyrie Irving. However, both superstars are constantly in the headlines. In his NFL career, AB has been fined for multiple endzone celebrations and has endured problems with the coaching staff.
With the Raiders, he refused to wear league-mandated helmets and missed multiple training sessions. Brown’s stint with the Patriots was his shortest. The Patriots released him after only one game because of misconduct allegations levied by his former trainer.
AB also once faked his vaccination certificate. Kyrie Irving also missed multiple games in the 2021 NBA season because of his anti-vaccination stance. Brown finally ended his playing career at Tampa Bay after exiting the field mid-game because of an altercation with former Buccaneers head coach Bruce Arians.

AB is involved in this mess through his association with Donda Sports
In February 2022, Kanye West-owned Donda Sports announced Antonio Brown as its new president. Since then, Kanye has been involved in multiple controversies. As a result, many prominent athletes like LA Rams’ Aaron Donald and Boston Celtics’ Jaylen Brown have ended their association with Donda sports. This provides a possible explanation for AB’s sudden support for Kyrie.
Kyrie Irving is on a 5-game suspension without pay and it’s not certain if the Nets want him back. Brooklyn faces Charlotte Hornets next.
