As per tradition, the NFL Honors took place last night. Every year, the league holds an award function to celebrate the brilliant performance of the players from the past seasons. Various awards, like Most Valuable Player, Offensive Player of the Year, Defensive Player of the Year and so many more awards are given. Joe Burrow has won 2021 NFL Comeback Player of the Year.

Burrow winning the Comeback Player of the Year was well deserved. After suffering a career-threatening injury, many thought the young blood QB was done. But Burrow turned everything around when he stepped back on the field. After winning the award, the Bengals star might have been overwhelmed. Because what he did next left the fans wondering. 

Joe Burrow makes an unreal comeback

The Bengals quarterback started his career in 2020. He was Cincinnati’s first overall pick of that year’s draft. After an impressive football career at LSU, everyone knew that Joe Burrow was destined for greatness. He was the only rookie from his draft class who started a game in the first week of the season. The Bengals have always had a lot of faith in the young quarterback.

In November, Burrow’s first season was sadly cut short. In the Week 11 game against the Washington Football Team, Burrow hurt his ACL and MCL of his left knee. The injury was pretty brutal, and it put the QB out of commission. It was expected that Burrow would be sidelined for at least a year. But he made a superhuman recovery and came back better than ever. 

Burrow returned to the field on Week 1 of the 2021 season. With each progressing week, we saw the quarterback improve. In the past season, his every performance was better than the last. That is the reason why the Bengals are in the Super Bowl after 34 years.

Burrow forgets to take his trophy after winning the Comeback Player of the Year award

After an amazing come like that, nobody was surprised when Joe Burrow won the award. After being named the Comeback Player of the Year, the QB gave a speech. He said, “My family obviously helped me after surgery. it’s tough getting around the house.” Burrow adds, “Then my teammates, I obviously wouldn’t be here without them. Coaches, organization, everybody. So thanks to everybody so much. Worked really hard to get here. Excited for this weekend.” 

After the speech, Burrow forgot to take the trophy. It has confused fans. Some say it is a publicity stunt. Burrow is just trying to make a buzz. And some believe he genuinely might have forgotten to pick up the trophy at that moment. Here is what the people are saying:
