In 2012, LeBron James stirred the media after he made a bold statement about American football. He forbade his sons LeBron Jr and Bryce Maximus from playing football. The NBA star explained his thoughts via ESPN’s Chris Broussard.

LeBron James mentioned, “We don’t want them to play in our household right now until they understand how physical and how demanding the game is. Then they can have their choice in high school, we’ll talk over it. But right now there’s no need for it. There’s enough sports they can play. They play basketball, they play soccer, they play everything else but football and hockey.”

King James added it was a precaution. As a parent, one would do all possible to safeguard their children. He doesn’t think of himself as the only one who doesn’t let his children play football. It’s just that he’s LeBron James, and it would get publicity for no reason.
