It seems the doors are slowly opening for the quarterback-turned-civil rights activist Colin Kaepernick into pro football. The former San Francisco 49ers signal-caller received this opportunity to participate in a workout session conducted by the Las Vegas Raiders on Wednesday. This is the first time Kaepernick is collaborating with an NFL team since falling back into exile after his kneeling stint in 2016.

For the past many months, the Nevada alumnus was desperately trying to secure a spot for the upcoming NFL season. However, none of the teams showed interest in him. Despite having four quarterbacks lined up one after the other, it was surprising for the Raiders to extend their support for him.

As of now, Derek Carr is speculated to play the role of a starting quarterback in the 2022 season. However, Kaepernick’s stint at the training camp might have jittered his chances.

In his recent public statements, it was Mark Davis who hinted at a possibility for Kaepernick and urged the NFL world to consider the 34-year-old for a second chance. “I still stand by it,” Davis said. “If our coaches and general manager want to bring him in or want him to be the quarterback on this team, I would welcome him with open arms,” Davis(The Raiders owner) added to his statements.

Fans were stunned to see Colin Kaepernick in the workout session with the Raiders.

Even though Kaepernick is confident about entering the NFL, fans were skeptical and amused to see him landing a workout gig with the Raiders. A Twitter user by the name of Courtney Kelliehan extended support for the QB.

However, this Twitter user seemed offended.

While Carter believes Kaepernick is not suitable for the NFL anymore.

This hardcore Raiders fan appreciated the efforts undertaken by his team.

Isaiah believes Kaepernick is better than Carr at the quarterback position.

Another Twitter user seemed unhappy with the move.

Alex Xavier was pleading to give Kaepernick a chance in the league.

Kaepernick was an exceptional quarterback during his tenure with the San Francisco 49ers from 2011 to 2016. He was selected as the second-round pick out of Nevada in the 2011 NFL draft. Kaepernick started 58 games for the side and led the team towards the Super Bowl XLVII just two years into his NFL career.

Kaepernick’s first workout at Michigan

Moreover, Kaepernick is also physically fit and is capable of slinging the ball deep down the field. A few weeks ago, he was named the honorary captain for Michigan’s annual Maize and the Blue spring game. He participated in a 15-minute throwing workout session exhibiting his unwavering skills despite staying away from the sport for more than five years.

“We still get out there and sling it,” Kaepernick said after the halftime exhibition. “Really, getting out here for the exhibition was to show that I can still do it. It’s one of the questions my agent keeps getting, so we want to make sure we can come out, show everyone I can still play, and still throw it,” he added after throwing a monstrous pass effortlessly. In the coming days, it will be interesting to see how Kaepernick manages to unlock his fortune in the NFL.
