Lamar Jackson Remembers Muttering Just One Word to Himself After Bill Belichick Broke His Straight Face Façade

On Wednesday, Lamar Jackson showed up at a press conference and mused about a specific time involving Bill Belichick. It was the time when the quarterback visited Florida for a workout. Apart from Josh McDaniels, he encountered Belichick and witnessed a distinct perspective. Jackson had one word which expressed his fascination.

Lamar Jackson mentioned with a smile, “I’ve seen Belichick smile. Usually, when I see him, he’s puzzled face, a straight-faced guy. When I saw him smile, I was like, ‘Damn! you’ve got humor. I wasn’t expecting you to be smiling.’”

The Ravens QB’s rare encounter took place in 2018. It was when the Patriots were preparing themselves to move from the Tom Brady era. For LJ, it was a sight to see as he did not expect to see a smiling Bill Belichick. However, he does not know what made the Patriots’ legendary head coach smile that day.

As per baltimoreravens.com, The Patriots had two opportunities to select Lamar Jackson. Ultimately, they selected offensive lineman Isaiah Wynn with the 23rd overall pick and running back Sony Michel with the 31st overall pick. It was one spot before the Ravens traded in the first round to select the QB.

Bill Belichick is keeping a close eye on the Lamar Jackson contract situation

Lamar Jackson is a big draw of the season and is yet to receive an extension. After his talks with the Ravens came to nothing, he is not the apple of the eye to many teams. One of them is Bill Belichick, who is also keeping a close eye on his contract situation. Belichick feels Jackson has proven enough to show his ability to pass from the pocket, and he is curious regarding the QB’s next deal.

Speaking to the reporters, Belichick mentioned, “Without a doubt. That’s the type of player that’s an MVP candidate. I think he’s more than answered them. Wait ’til we see what his contract is. That’ll answer them.”

It is yet to see if the Ravens stack up more money or if any other team swoops in to get the 2019 MVP’s services.
