Lamar Jackson dropped a bombshell when he revealed that he wants to move away from the Baltimore Ravens. After a yearlong to and fro, the saga hit a boiling point. But is there a team that urgently requires a QB? A certain West coast franchise comes to many minds. According to recent indications, the dual-threat QB is not in line to become the next west coast star.

The San Francisco 49ers finished the last season without a healthy QB. However, it seems that head coach Kyle Shanahan has dismissed the possibility of signing Jackson for the team with QB troubles. In fact, he finds himself all set for the upcoming season.

It looks like every NFL fan wants to know the QB strategy for the Niners going forward. While speaking at a recent press meet, Shanahan gave his thoughts about the ongoing Lamar Jackson situation.

According to the 49ers Webzone, Shanahan said“Everyone knows Lamar’s skill set.” He further added “Lamar’s a stud. I’m sure they’ll work it out there. But Lamar’s a great player.”

But when the reporter pressed on and asked if the Niners are interested in the Ravens QB, Shanahan dismissed the notion altogether.

“We’ve got three quarterbacks we’re pretty good with right now. And we’re pretty set with how we’ve built our roster salary cap-wise,” he said.

The Niners had lost all their QBs to injury during the NFC championship game against the Philadelphia Eagles. While Brock Purdy went down with a UCL tear, his backup Josh Johnson found himself in the concussion protocol. That cost the Niners a place in Super Bowl LVII. To remedy the situation, the Niners have signed Sam Darnold from the Carolina Panthers. Jackson, on the other hand, is looking at life beyond Baltimore.

Lamar Jackson and the Ravens find themselves in a strange and complex situation. The 2019 NFL MVP clearly wants to move on from the franchise that drafted him in the first round of the 2018 draft. The Ravens have already put a non-exclusive franchise tag on the QB. They are ready to let Jackson go for the right price which, in this situation, would be two first-round picks.

Jackson and the Ravens have been on the negotiation table since the end of the 2021 season. Both the parties couldn’t agree on the financials of an extension. The QB revealed that he had rejected a Ravens proposal of $133 million guaranteed deal for three years. He reportedly wants a bigger amount in guarantees. But the Ravens aren’t ready to agree to an all-guaranteed contract. As a last resort, the QB requested a trade away from Baltimore.
