Michael Vick recently appeared on an episode of Shannon Sharpe’s podcast, Club Shay Shay. The two NFL heavyweights even talked about Jackson and his contract situation. And according to Vick, he would rather see Lamar turn down a max deal from the Ravens. “I understand the business acumen in this whole situation,” explained Vick. “When you accept this type of money… it’s hard to sign other guys. To keep things together. It’ll limit your chances of winning a championship.”

The Cleveland Browns have done their bit in order to hinder their divisional rivals to keep hold of their star. Earlier this offseason, Deshaun Watson was acquired by the team. Who then proceeded to give him a new 5 years $230 million deal. What’s even more eye-opening is that the whole of the $230 million is guaranteed to the player. And Vick acknowledges it. “I think Cleveland made that move to make it hard for Baltimore.” shared the former NFL icon.

Lamar Jackson is betting on himself

The 25-year-old quarterback turned down a 6-year $290 million contract from the Ravens. One of the main sticking points in the deal was the guaranteed amount of $133 million. Which fell way short of Lamar’s expectations. According to the reports, he is looking for similar money to Watson.

In spite of missing many games last season due to injury, Jackson has decided to back himself this season. And he is doing exactly that. He has led his team to a 7-4 record in the AFC. With over 2231 passing yards and 17 TDs in just 11 games. While further adding another 755 yards and 3 TDs by rushing as well. The former Heisman Trophy winner is certainly rushing towards a big payday.
