They say, Third time lucky. Not to be for Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Cooper Kupp. On Day 3 of the team’s two-hour practice session in Irvine, Calif., the 30-year-old left the field after a mere half an hour of toil. Kupp was forced to leave the practice after completing a one-on-one receiving drill.

This comes as a brutal blow for the former Super Bowl MVP, who was looking good and without any pain in the first couple of days at training camp with the Rams. Kupp was looking for a comeback in the NFL after overcoming successful ankle surgery last year.

As reported in a leading daily, Kupp has suffered a hamstring injury. After finishing his drill, in which he ran into the end zone, Krupp appeared stiff and soon went to the training staff and left the field immediately. What’s worse for LA fans is that there is no timeline for his return.

While senior players like Matthew Stafford and others had very little knowledge about Kupp’s latest injury, head coach Sean McVay revealed that the star wide receiver appeared to pull up during a routine exercise.

“He looked like he came up a little bit in a red zone route, and then I just knew they told me he was out for practice. I have no more information than that.” Sean McVay said

The LA Rams head coach provided no further details into Kupp’s injury, other than that the latter has suffered a hamstring injury. The former Super Bowl MVP forms an invaluable partnership with Matthew Stafford and is a key member of the LA Rams. However, over the past few years, injuries one after the other have taken a toll on Kupp’s body, much to the dismay of Rams fans.

Cooper Kupp has a long list of injuries

Injuries and Cooper Kupp go hand-in-hand. In 2017, Kupp suffered a groin pull, forcing him to miss the final two preseason games with the Rams. The following year, the wide receiver suffered a head-cranial Grade 1 concussion but recovered within a week and missed no games. In October 2018, Kupp missed two games with a sprained left MCL, and a month later, he tore his left ACL, resulting in his missing out on six games of the season.

Kupp stayed injury-free for close to two years, but then, in January 2021, he suffered a knee injury during a game against the Seahawks. The knee bruise kept him away from the playoff game against the Green Bay Packers. Towards the end of the year, in October 2022, Cooper Kupp suffered a pedal ankle sprain, which was later specified as a Grade 1 unspecified pull. The toughest of them all came in November 2022, when Kupp suffered a Grade 3 high pedal ankle sprain in the game against the Arizona Cardinals.

As a result, the 30-year-old missed the team’s last eight games in the 2022 season. Before getting injured, Kupp had 75 receptions in nine games. Head coach Sean McVay understands the importance of Krupp on the side and is hoping that all is well with the star wide receiver.

“Obviously we’re much better when he’s here, and we hope he’s going to be OK. If he’s not, we’ll see what happens, but the practice had to go on.” McVay said.

After missing the second half of the season last year, the Rams were hopeful that a fit and healthy Kupp would be a key element in guiding them to the playoffs in 2023. For the moment, that looks highly unlikely. What do you think are the LA Rams’ chances in the NFL this season in case the star wide receiver is ruled out? Let us know what you think.
