Kyler Murray and JJ Watt Make Damning Statements After Playoff Elimination: ‘Losing is One Thing, But When You Don’t Even Make It Competitive’

Arizona Cardinals took on the Los Angeles Rams in the wild-card round last night. The game did not go as planned for Arizona. The Rams knocked out the Cardinals. A couple of players had similar statements about the game. The quarterback Kyler Murray and the DE J.J.Watt are not too pleased with their performance. 

Los Angeles defeated Arizona with a score of 34-11 in the NFC wild-card game. Kyler Murray had the opportunity to lead his team through the playoffs. A win would have made a significant leap in his rankings among the NFL quarterbacks. But Murray and the Cardinals did the opposite.

There is no doubt that Kyler Murray is a talented quarterback. But football is not a single-player game. It is a team effort. The entire team needs to be on the same page to win. During the game with the Rams, Murray struggled from start to finish. The quarterback was not able to make any effective drives. He led one offensive drive all night. Murray only completed 19 of his 34 passes for 137 yards. He was intercepted twice and got a passer rating of just 40.9.

After dominating the early season, the Cardinals make a quiet exit from the playoffs. After the game, the Cardinals quarterback expressed his feelings to the reporters. He said that it was disappointing to see things end this way. He knows the Cardinals are capable of playing good football. Murray adds, “Losing is one thing, but when you don’t even make it competitive, it’s another thing.”

The loss was just “embarrassing” for the defensive end. On Monday night football J.J. Watt said, “It was a massive failure, from what we were capable of doing, to what we showed we can do, to today,” he adds, “There is no other way to describe it.” 

Both Kyler Murray and J.J. Watt are on the same page. They both know what their team is capable of doing. But what happened in the wild-card round was just disappointing for them.
