San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan has found a prominent place in the NFL scenes throughout his coaching career across 6 teams. From assistant coach in the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, a 2015 Super Bowl berth for the Atlanta Falcons to LVIII qualifications with the San Francisco 49ers, Shanahan has walked a steady growth path.
Throughout the entirety of the journey, the head coach has found his family by his side. Kyle Shanahan has found his wife Mandy Shanahan right by him as long as his career extends. Mandy, who likes to keep her personal life private, doesn’t hesitate to support her husband vocally.
As Kyle walks yet another momentous path with the 49ers, here’s all about Mandy Shanahan, who has stood by him through highs and vulnerabilities.

Kyle Shanahan’s wife is his biggest fan!
Kyle Shanahan and Mandy met each other as students at Cherry Creek High School. Though they split up after that, Mandy’s loss of her mother to cancer not only reunited them but also led Kyle to fall in love. “There are very few times in life you get to see someone for who they genuinely are,” Kyle told the San Francisco Chronicle in 2017. “Mandy going through that… it showed me who she was. And that was the person I fell in love with.” Kyle used to fly down from his college in Texas to Colorado to watch over Mandy and eventually fell in love.
Mandy who was studying English literature at the University of Colorado revealed that it was Kyle who got her through the difficult time. “After going through that with him, I couldn’t imagine being with anyone else,” were her words. A couple of years later, in 2005, the two got married and went on to have 2 daughters and a son – Stella, Lexi, and Carter.
Outside of her role as a wife and a mother, Mandy is known to be an entrepreneur. Moreover, multiple reports suggest that his wife manages much of Kyle Shanahan’s professional contracts and endorsements. Now sticking through his days as an assistant coach to HC for the 49ers, Mandy has developed a liking for the team.
Kyle Shanahan worked as an assistant coach for numerous teams until 2017 when he was hired for a first head coach position with the 49ers. Scrutiny and speculations were quick to follow Shanahan over the news. But Mandy stuck through to highlight the wrong perceptions. “Kyle’s been one of the most sensitive people I’ve ever been around, in a good way. He’s so in tune with people’s emotions,” she says.

Since then, Mandy has been completely invested in the team and has made several appearances at the 49ers games. Kyle even revealed that she wouldn’t allow him to switch his regular red hat-white shirt outfit since she grew superstitious and weary of the team losing.
Super Bowl 2020, or 2024 NFC Championship against the Lions, Mandy was there as a fan and a wife. And when the Niners take on the Chiefs for the second time under Kyle Shanahan, one will easily find Mandy in the stands, rooting for the 49ers’ first title since 1994. The Super Bowl LVIII game kicks off at Sin City’s Allegiant Stadium on Sunday at 6:30 p.m. ET.
