It has only been two years since the legendary Tom Brady joined the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. And while he won the Super Bowl that year, he did so by taking out the QB spot from under another promising player: Jameis Winston. And while many may think the decision to sign Brady may have effectively robbed Winston of a good team, Winston at the time felt otherwise. Instead, he felt proud of being replaced by Brady.

Appearing on Fox News, Winston showed no sign of hostility towards Brady taking his job. “One thing about Tom Brady is it’s understood that he is the GOAT,” he said. “For you to get replaced by Tom Brady in a city that you love so much, I guess that’s kudos to me. But, at the end of the day, it’s a competitive sport. We all in the business, so I’m excited for whatever opportunity may hold.”
And while Brady settled nicely into his new team, it took Winston a while to find a new team for himself. Eventually, he signed with the Bucs’ divisional rivals, New Orleans Saints. But he was never able to reach the levels he found himself at with the Buccaneers. In 3 seasons he only appears in 14 games for the Saints.
Jameis Winston loses his job due to injury
Jameis Winston’s struggles with the Saints took a decisive turn this season. When he suffered a critical back injury in the Saints’ week 1 game against the Atlanta Falcons. But what probably aggravated the situation was his decision to play the next game against Brady and the Bucs. Since then, Andy Dalton has been leading the offense for the Saints. And head coach Dennis Allen seems to be happy with his performance.

But Winston is getting impatient on the sidelines. According to him, his injuries are all healed. And he expected to make a comeback sooner after he had a talk with Allen back in London. But it seems Winston is getting a bit paranoid after how things are panning out.
“I lost my job due to injury, and the policy has always been you don’t lose your job due to injury. And that’s what happened,” says Winston. “I’m healing up. I haven’t been playing. This is the best healing I can get…. when that time comes for me to eventually come back … I’m going to support Andy…. this offense…. everyone on this offensive staff the best I possibly can, and that’s it.”

He adds, “Because, like I said, I wear that shirt that says, ‘Big team, little me,’ even though it hurts my heart. It hurts my soul the way things have turned out to be this year, but it is what it is.”
