The world paid respects to the lost soul of Gigi. It became even more heartwarming after Nike released a special tribute to Gianna which was inspired by Kobe Bryant’s Oscar-nominated animated video Dear Basketball.
The minute-long video entitled, Dear Gianna, was narrated by her mother Vanessa. “Dear Gianna, From the first time you imagined winning a WNBA Championship, I knew one thing was real. You were special. You came from greatness, but it was never about what you inherited. It was about what you gave to others. When someone stands up for gender equality, I see you fighting alongside of them and every time someone plays their hardest, I know that’s you on the court. Love you, always.”
Russell Wilson and wife Ciara remembered Gigi on her birthday
Her mother Vanessa Bryant received cards and bouquets in remembrance of her daughter. One such card was from the Wilson family.
Happy Birthday Gigi
Forever in our hearts
Love,
The Wilsons

How are Vanessa and the Wilsons related?
Although Vanessa referred to Ciara and Russell as Auntie and Uncle, they aren’t related by blood. However, they are roughly the same age but it pretty much describes the way she refers to them especially when she talks to her kids. The Bryants are though not related to the Wilsons by blood but the kind of close friendship that the two families have, one can mistake it for blood relations.
Russell and Kobe, who are often termed as one of the best athletes in their respective sports had very strong bonds. Although Kobe’s death came as a shock to him but the love and respect for him still lives in Russell’s heart.
