The San Francisco 49ers were among the few NFL teams that decided to take part in yesterday’s Blackout Tuesday. As part of the social media initiative triggered by George Floyd’s death, account holders posted a black image. While the Super Bowl runners up engaged in the campaign, their followers didn’t seem to be on board with the idea.
San Francisco 49ers twitter followers lash out at Black Lives Matter post
In 2016, 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick began taking a knee during the national anthem. He did so to protest against atrocities and simultaneously respect the stars and stripes. Later, he left the team in free agency and 3 seasons later is yet to be part of an NFL franchise.

As per Yahoo Sports, 49ers GM John Lynch told the QB to opt-out or be released. The incident is public, and fans attribute Kaepernick’s release, as well as Eric Reid’s departure a year later, as the 49ers crushing dissent and wanting to set an example.
A user “FOUR EYES” lashed out against the side saying, “Delete this. Cowards. You could’ve helped make a change and chose not to.” Supporting the tweet is an image of Reid and Kaepernick taking a knee before an NFL game.

Another user opined that the 49ers should get on their knees and beg for forgiveness. At the same time, another user was at a loss for words.
Sorry @49ers you should be ashamed for posting that…I am at a loss for words 😩😕

Another tweet slammed the 49ers for icing “QB who saw the future and began to silently and respectfully bring awareness.“
Your QB saw the future and began to silently & respectfully bring awareness. He didn’t say: Hey, look at me?!”
He just quietly knelt. But as an entity, you all didn’t talk to him and help by embracing the cry and cause early; you all iced him AND the whole league followed suit.— ChAse'Buddy'LoMein🍜 (@CTConsigliere) June 3, 2020
One tweet had a photo of Eric Reid and Colin Kaepernick with the caption, “this is what real strength looks like.“

Many other users too slammed the NFC Champions over their Blackout Tuesday tweet. Some labeled it a “joke” whilst others wondered “if they really think that.”
Oh this has GOT to be a joke. Very bold of y’all to post this on the real.
