Kevin Durant expected more from the Rams

While talking about the NFC Divisional match between Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Los Angeles Rams, KD said that the Bucs’ comeback was just a fluke. He said, “That was like the flukiest comeback. Fumble, fumble, perfect field position, come on man. Right after a fumble to strip-sack and then you just fumble it again.”

It wouldn’t have been possible for the Buccaneers to pull off such a comeback if the Rams hadn’t made so many fumbles. The Buccaneers converted the fumble into scores, and the match was all alive near the end of the second half. The Rams, who were cruising to victory, fumbled at crucial stages in the match which turned the game around.

A fluky comeback of the Rams

The Buccaneers-Rams NFC Divisional playoff game was one of the closest games of the postseason. What made this game stand out was the Buccaneers’ comeback after they went down 27-3. During the second half, the LA Rams fumbled three times, and the Buccaneers squad capitalized on each.

At 27-6, Jamel Dean fumbled and the Buccaneers gained possession, scored a touchdown, and the score went up to 27-13. Then, after a few plays, Brian Allen fumbled a pass from Matthew Stafford. This allowed the Buccaneers to score a touchdown, pushing the score to 27-20. Finally, another fumble by Cam Akers and a touchdown by Leonard Fournette tied the game at 27-27. The stadium was buzzing as the scores were tied.

Nonetheless, Matthew Stafford made a few spectacular plays, and Cooper Kupp’s sensational catch on a deep pass was enough to seal a 30-27 victory for the Rams. Kevin Durant and Eddie Gonzalez acknowledged Stafford’s game in the podcast talk. KD said, “I have always been impressed with Stafford because he is a real gunslinger.”

It’s likely that the outcome would have been different if Stafford hadn’t been around.
