Running back Deuce Vaughn created history at the 2023 NFL Combine in Indianapolis. He became the shortest player recommended in the event, according to PFF. Well, at least since the official data tracking began in 2003.

Before the Kansas State alumni broke the record with five feet five inches, it stood with former wide receiver Trindon Holiday. The Houston Texans drafted him in the sixth round of the 2010 draft. And moreover, a running back’s height rarely affects his play.
Vaughn is already having meetings with his suitors at the Combine. His dream came true when he held an informal meeting with the Dallas Cowboys during the event. Vaughn already has a connection with the Cowboys as his father works for the franchise as a scout.

“I have (met with the Cowboys). It was informal and it went really, really well. Really, really well,” Vaughn said about his meeting with the Cowboys. “It set some of the nerves aside. He’s been there for me and I can’t thank him enough,” he added about having his father during the Combine process.

The 21-year-old grew up in Texas and is a Cowboys fan since childhood. And surely, he won’t mind a star on his helmet.

Scaling heights in college football

Deuce Vaughn may not have the height that the fans are accustomed to, but that hasn’t really put a dent in his performance. The Kansas State running back has three years of college football under his belt. And in 37 college games, Vaughn gained a whopping 4,884 yards. Out of these, he gained 3,604 yards through the ground.

The running back scored 43 touchdowns in his college career. And he got into the second-team All-Big 12 in all three years of his college career. So even with such a height, he scaled the heights of his college career. Will he do the same in the NFL?
