The new league year is still a few months away. But KC is not wasting any time in bringing new coaching staff. The former offensive coordinator, Eric Bieniemy, left the Kansas City Chiefs to join the Washington Commanders for the same position under the Commanders’ head coach, Ron Rivera. Even though the 2023 season will be a new frontier for the star QB Patrick Mahomes without Bienemy, the team brought a familiar face. The news excited fans as it will allow the two-time Super Bowl-winning QB to win even more championships and individual records.

The organization tweeted on Friday afternoon to announce Matt Nagy’s promotion to offensive coordinator. Nagy served as the Chiefs’ quarterbacks coach last season, but this won’t be his first time serving as the team’s offensive coordinator. He held the position in 2016 and 2017 before being named the head coach of the Chicago Bears, where he stayed for four seasons before being fired. It prompted his return to Kansas City where he worked with Mahomes as his QB coach in 2022. The KC kingdom has nothing to worry about because they are pretty sure that their favorite shot-caller will only flourish under the new OC coach.

Fans expressed their happiness as Nagy will only improve Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs’ performance

The claims are not without any proof. Back in 2017, when he worked with Kansas City, the then-starting signal caller, Alex Smith, had one of his best seasons as a pro under him. Alex Smith had the lowest INT rate and the highest passer rating (104.7) in the NFL (1.0). The 67.5% represented a career-high in KC.

Now that #15 will work with Nagy, it only opens the door to achievements and new records. Some fans even believed that the 44-year-old coach has the potential of becoming the Chiefs’ head coach in a few years.

Nagy was responsible for making the Chiefs’ offense balanced as ever. The team hasn’t had a 1,000-yard roster since the coach left for the Bears. Although Mahomes can manage to do that on his own, having a powerful guide will only allow him to shine more during his games.
