It comes as no shock that the Kansas City Chiefs’ quarterback Patrick Mahomes got a 99 OVR on Madden’21. After all, last season he single-handedly carried the Chiefs to their triumph in the Super Bowl.

His rating is justified given the fact that his team was trailing double digits in the final, last year. And the 26-year-old delivered under pressure to bring home the most coveted trophy in the sport.

Now, what’s interesting is that Mahomes has leveled New Orleans Saints’ Drew Brees in terms of the most 99 Madden rating for any quarterback.

Patrick Mahomes is enjoying an unbelievable run

Both Brees and Mahomes have secured the 99 OVR twice in their career. It’s highly probable that Mahomes would eventually surpass him, given his young age. Brees is 41 years old and may not have many opportunities left to bolster his tally.

But the real question is whether Mahomes can touch former Indianapolis Colts quarterback Peyton manning’s record of 6-time 99-rating?

Well, age is obviously on Mahomes’ side and if everything goes right, he may not only just touch Peyton’s tally but surpass it. Or that’s what Adam Schefter believes

He appeared on ESPN where he talked about the team-friendly nature of Patrick Mahomes’ mammoth $450 million 10-year contract. Schefter strongly believes that the quarterback can help his team to Super Bowl glory more frequently.

Patrick Mahomes is destined to be great

He said, “Absolutely, the contract, I think gives him the financial security he sought. And it gives his team the ability to win over the long term because this is a deal that’s not going to financially cripple the Kansas City Chiefs long term.

“And we’re talking about a player and it where players seem to walk to play longer.”

Speaking of Mahomes’ chances of success if he continues playing despite his progressing age, Adam said, “Tom Brady’s wanting to go into his 40s. We’ve heard Aaron Rodgers talk about that. We’re seeing Ben Roethlisberger go on and on.

“So with nutrition and sleep and some of those things being what they are there’s no reason that Mahomes can extend his career matching it up with his contract. And his contract is scheduled to take him until he’s 37 years old in Kansas City.

“It gives the Chiefs an advantage. It gives him financial security. And in the day and age, we’re living, I think Mahomes is poised to be on top of his game for the next decade minimum.

“Giving him and the Chiefs the chance to win even more Super Bowls.”

Who’s got a better chance?

Tom Brady has got 99 ratings four times, while Aaron Rodgers is the fourth person on the list with 3 99-ratings. Here, the fact is that Brady is 42 years old. By the time the 2020 season starts, he will be 43.

So, it leaves him less time to reach Peyton’s milestone. The six-time Super Bowl winner has signed two years contract with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Depending on how he performs over the next 24 months will determine if he gets an extension in Florida.

But if he is seen in his natural form for the next two seasons, he might just collect two more Madden 99 ratings and equalize Peyton Manning’s tally.

On the other hand, Aaron Rodgers is 36. He has father time on his side as far as reaching Manning’s record is concerned. However, for that, he will need to generate some of the highest quality performance consistently over the next few years.

But frankly speaking, Rodgers, although he is a legend of the game, isn’t anywhere near his peak. So, it would be over-optimistic to expect Aaron to find his way to the exclusive 6-time 99 rating club.

Following Patrick Mahomes’ world-record signing, the Kansas City Chiefs took further steps to strengthen their roster. They now have a deal with defensive tackle Chris Jones. He has signed a 4-year contract with the Chiefs.

It seems like the Chiefs are determined to go beyond merely defending their Super Bowl title. They also want to dominate the NFL and solidify their hold over the top of the food chain.
