With just one point lost to the Lions, the Chiefs were missing two key players: tight end Travis Kelce due to injury and defensive tackle Chris Jones due to a contract dispute. However, some relief is on the horizon for the Chiefs before their Week 2 mission, as blessings seem to be coming from the sky.
Patrick Mahomes is looking forward to reuniting with his high-profile weapons due to the returning reports of DT Chris Jones and TE Travis Kelce. The full injury report has been released by the Chiefs’ officials ahead of their AFC West matchup against the AFC South Jaguars on September 17th at EverBank Stadium.

Major players on both sides of the football were limited during Wednesday’s practice for the Chiefs. Chris Jones returned to the practice field for the first time since ending his holdout, and Travis Kelce also returned to practice on Wednesday. But what do the injury reports say? According to the Week 2 Injury Report on the Chiefs’ official website before their second game show:
Star DT Chris Jones, nursing a non-injury-related ailment, saw limited action in Wednesday’s practice. Meanwhile, CB L’Jarius Sneed and standout TE Travis Kelce grappled with knee issues and were also limited in participation.
However, Sports Illustrated reported that both Jones and Kelce were limited, despite that Kelce will most likely make his return in Week 2 against Jacksonville, and there’s a possibility that Jones could be part of the team’s playing roster as well. During Wednesday’s press conference, Jones humorously questioned his readiness for practice, pondering whether he was truly in “football shape.”
What about the other Chiefs rosters who are suffering from injuries?
The Chiefs’ website lists the following reports: RB Clyde Edwards-Helaire did not participate in Wednesday’s practice due to illness. In contrast, WR Richie James, nursing a knee injury, and CB Nic Jones, recovering from a hand injury, both had full participation. Despite knee injuries, WR Kadarius Toney and DT Tershawn Wharton also practiced fully.
