However, the one that caught the fan’s attention was his two yards TD pass to Clyde Edwards-Helaire. He scrambles across the downfield, confusing the defensive linemen, penetrating the line of scrimmage, making a sudden spin, and passing the ball to Edwards.
When asked about his dazzling touchdown attempt in the last second, Mahomes mentioned that it was making up for the loss he couldn’t score a touchdown wide open.
“I mean first off, I missed the wide-open touchdown with the play before or I got in between like I wanted to lob it to him or just dotted on him and so I was upset with myself there,” Mahomes said in the press conference.
He mentioned having reported this mistake to his head coach Andy Reid and assured him of compensating for it. “so I owed a touchdown to the team. They covered it well. I beat him around the corner. I made a little spin move. And I knew I wasn’t going to get in running. So I gave Clyde a chance. He made a great play.” he said in an interview after the game.
Apart from Helaire’s splendid catch and run for a score, Travis Kelce was the man in the Arena for KC. He had nine catches for 92 yards and registered a touchdown.
