Patrick Mahomes’ recent season with Kansas City Chiefs can be described in one word: eventful. While the Chiefs made it to a fourth consecutive AFC Championship game, QB Patrick Mahomes had a season to forget. The former Texas Tech alumnus threw a record 13 interceptions to 37 touchdowns. For a superstar QB like Mahomes, these numbers proved beyond disappointing.
As a result, Mahomes earned the #8 spot in the Top 100 NFL Players of 2022. Rival Tom Brady took the top spot despite a failed Super Bowl run. Mahomes trailed Davante Adams at #7, Defensive Player of the Year TJ Watt and #6, and perhaps most surprisingly, Colts RB Jonathan Taylor at #5. Cooper Kupp, Aaron Rodgers, Aaron Donald, and Brady rounded off the top 10.

Mahomes seems to have taken the #8 spot silently, with no retort. However, we cannot expect the same from his family. The Mahomes family remains a controversial one. Brittany Matthews repeatedly angers NFL fanbases with her antics and hot takes. Baby brother Jackson is slowly turning into a hate-seeking missile with his TikToks.

The Mahomes family has remained silent to Mahomes getting ranked #8, but the situation wasn’t the same back in 2020. After beating the 49ers in the Super Bowl, Mahomes was the steady favorite to finish #1 in the best players of the league rankings. Unfortunately, the Chiefs QB had to settle with #4.
However, Mahomes slapped away any signs of disappointment over the rankings by delivering an absolute spanking to Lamar Jackson’s Baltimore Ravens. Jackson finished the previous season as the unanimous MVP and the #1 spot in the best player’s list. In response to Patrick’s win over Lamar, his wife Brittany Matthews took Twitter to remind fans of her husband’s greatness.

Whether it was a bizarre coincidence or divine intervention, Mahomes tossed four touchdown passes, giving the Chiefs’ Twitter admin and Matthews enough ammo to frame some sharp tweets. “No, let them keeping ranking him #4 in the league…..we love it,” wrote Matthews. With Mahomes finishing #8 this year, can we expect the same wit from Matthews, and the same dominating performance from Mahomes?
