After suffering their third loss of the season, many people have already written Kansas City Chiefs off. However, their recent performance against Buffalo Bills left one man enraged. Stephen A. Smith went on a loud rant about the Chiefs, but left some praise for Patrick Mahomes. While he claimed the Chiefs will make it to postseason, it’ll only be because of Mahomes.

In their week five clash, Kansas City Chiefs slumped to a humiliating defeat to Buffalo Bills. The Bills dominated the field and never allowed the Chiefs to get out of the blocks. Quarterback Josh Allen had a career-best, MVP worthy performance against one of the strongest teams in the AFC.

Patrick Mahomes had an awful game too, with two interceptions negating two brilliant touchdowns. Many were quick to point out his faults, but Stephen A. Smith cleared the air on what led to the Chiefs crumbling. The television host attacked the Chiefs’ defense like a hyena in typical Stephen A. Smith fashion.

“Kansas City Chiefs are done. Let me just say it right now. They’re going to the postseason; sure because of that dude, Patrick Mahomes. Their defense is trash. They can’t stop a cold. Let’s just call it what it is okay — they’re awful. They’re the worst defense in the league at points allowed, second worst in points allowed, second worst against the run. Don’t get me started against what they are against the pass. They are an atrocity.”

Smith further claimed that the Chiefs couldn’t stop a cold in coronavirus season, emphasising how poorly he thought of their defence. Are his claims true and hold some water? Do the Chiefs need to bring some strong defensive back-ups on board, similar to how the Buccaneers signed Richard Sherman?

After the 38-20 drubbing at the hands of the Bills, the Chiefs will face another formidable opponent in Washington Football Team. Ron Rivera’s squad also suffered a heavy defeat at New Orleans Saints’ hands, and will look to bounce back in the division.

In terms of injuries, Clyde Edwards-Helaire and Joe Thuney aren’t the only ones doubtful. Star players Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce also picked up injuries that could have a significant impact on the next fixture. If these four men are out, chances are the Chiefs will suffer their fourth loss of the season.
