The San Francisco 49ers might look forward to releasing QB Jimmy Garoppolo as they haven’t found a trade partner yet. As for the 49ers, they are sure they would give Trey Lance a chance to be their starting quarterback. But there might be an NFC rival waiting to sign Jimmy G to improve their quarterback position.

Seattle Seahawks were interested in signing Baker Mayfield, but he was traded to the Panthers by the Browns. Now, a big name in a quarterback position who is still unaware of his future team is Jimmy G, and the Seahawks have shown interest in him.
According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, “Tricky, certainly, to do a trade inside the NFC West. But the 49ers and Seattle know they can maybe sort of wait this out because the 49ers have limited cap space right now, I think around $5 million. They want to re-sign Nick Bosa and Deebo Samuel to do that, they need some of Garoppolo’s $24 million in base salary. Seattle probably knows that, which means maybe they won’t try to make a trade. They’ll just wait for 49ers to release.”

The Niners are looking to re-sign wide receiver Deebo Samuel and defensive end Nick Bosa, who will enter their last season according to their contract. But the franchise only has around $5 million cap space right now, which won’t be enough. The best option left with them is to release Jimmy G, and the Seahawks will be the first to sign a deal with him.

Garoppolo’s agent Don Yee had also claimed there is a possibility that Garoppolo might play as a backup quarterback to his former teammate Tom Brady at Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The QB had joined the Patriots in 2016 and played four seasons under Brady. During his time at the Patriots, the team won two Super Bowls in 2015 and 2017. Could we see history repeat itself or will Jimmy G find a new team?
