The Chiefs picked up a big win over the Jaguars, but it came with a cost. They lost JuJu Smith-Schuster after placing him under concussion protocol. It could be a problematic move, considering that the WR was the team’s prime playmaker. It was a disappointing stage, and Travis Kelce shared the sideline reaction after the takedown.

Jason and Travis Kelce touched down on their New Heights Podcast to discuss multiple topics. The Chiefs TE shared how the sideline reaction was after JuJu Smith-Schuster sustained the hit. It was a poignant moment for the ones under the Chiefs’ umbrella.

 

Travis Kelce mentioned, “It just rips your heart out, man, especially the way it goes down; that’s never easy to see. Never easy to be a part of… Everybody in the game was pissed. We kind of had a moment where we were like, ‘Yo, let’s rally around the ball. Let’s make sure we take care of our guys, man,’ because this is getting out of hand. There’s a lot of those kind of momentum switches like those are boosters.”

“When you have big hits like that, and I think JuJu’s was the ball came out, quez big third down that we didn’t convert. It’s just stuff like that momentum-wise, and then on top of that, we just got to protect our guys. We can’t let somebody come into our house and throw bodies around and send guys to Blue tents and stuff like that,” He added.

During the Chiefs-Jaguars game, Patrick Mahomes connected with Smith-Schuster with a pass. Jaguars’ Andre Cisco struck Smith-Schuster on the head as he drove forward. Following the collision, trainers had to withdraw the Chiefs WR from the game, and he did not come back.

Despite losing out on JuJu Smith-Schuster over concussion protocol, the franchise has the force to back up the receiver’s end. The Chiefs traded up to get Kadarius Toney from New York. It looks like a seismic move, as Toney has the skill to blitz and make plays. But Travis Kelce feels like the Giants made a costly mistake.

Kelce does not know how he got out of that facility. He doesn’t understand and doesn’t want to understand what happened there. The TE expressed his excitement over how Brett Veach could recruit such a skilled player in this building.
