Davante Adams was traded from the Green Bay Packers to the Las Vegas Raiders and signed a five-year, $140 million contract without hesitation. Once, Adams said he was grateful for his time in GB Packers, but he had a lifelong dream to play for the Raiders now, reuniting with his college QB Derek Carr. Davante also said he didn’t need Aaron Rodgers to prove his worth as a receiver.
Rodgers, former Packers’ QB, reportedly did not try to recruit Adams to stay with the team and has remained silent on his departure. Some sources suggest that Rodgers was well aware that Adams would never play for the Packers again. While some continue to question why Davante left, his appearance on the ‘I am Athlete’ podcast spoke volumes about his decisions.

Davante opened up to Brandon Marshall
During a conversation on the ‘I Am Athlete’ podcast with Brandon Marshall, Adams shed light on his motivations for seeking an exit from Green Bay. In the summer leading up to his departure, he had requested a new contract from the Packers, as he had only one year remaining on his existing deal. He recounted his discussions with the team, stating, “I talked to them, and I told the Packers and everything, based off of what I had done, you want to see another year of this before I get paid? I’m basically on a tag this year. It’s less money than a tag, and there’s no security just like a tag would be.”
It still baffles me how some refuse to acknowledge why Davante left. He says clearly in this interview there were two reasons.
1. The #Packers told him they needed to see one more year of production (WTF)
2. He didn't wanna be there if Aaron Rodgers wasn't.

Davante told the Packers, based on what he has accomplished, ‘Do you really want to see another year of this before I get paid?’ Davante was essentially playing on a one-year contract without the security and compensation that a proper contract should provide, akin to a franchise tag.

In light of these revelations, it becomes clearer why Davante ultimately made the decision to part ways with the Packers, seeking a more favorable and secure situation elsewhere.

The Packers underestimated Devante?
It is truly perplexing how some individuals persist in disregarding the reasons behind Davante’s departure. In a recent interview, he explicitly outlined two key factors contributing to his decision. Firstly, the Packers informed him that they required another year of exceptional performance before considering a new contract—an astonishing demand, to say the least. This stance from the team left him bewildered and frustrated. Secondly, Davante expressed his unwillingness to remain with the Packers if Aaron Rodgers, their star quarterback, were to depart. The bond and chemistry between Davante and Rodgers were crucial to his enjoyment and success in Green Bay.

Adams was initially drafted by the Packers in the second round of the 2014 NFL Draft and spent a remarkable eight years with the team, emerging as an elite wide receiver. Despite his exceptional skills and undeniable importance to the offense, the Packers appeared unwilling to compensate him adequately for his contributions.
