Following the arrival of Sean Payton at the Denver Broncos, the mood has shifted for the team. Especially after a disappointing NFL season in 2022, the change in HC seemed to be inevitable. Russell Wilson and co will hope that the change will give them the necessary boost to punch closer to their weight class. Both Wilson and Payton are former Super Bowl winners and their experience will help the Broncos immensely.
But the recent development and reports surrounding Russell have drawn criticism towards him. Wilson’s recent activities have put him in the spotlight. And with the spotlight, he has been a point of discussion on the Pat McAfee show.

Wilson has not earned many defenders after his switch and a disastrous season after moving to the Broncos. The 2014 super bowl winner was brought up by Pat McAfee on his show in one of the latest iterations. McAfee called out the former Seahawks QB for acting like he is in a movie.
The former Colts punter says, “it feels like he is doing what he thinks a movie character would do like the um high knees on a plane.” He goes onto add, “if you’re writing a movie about the super good guy quarterback in the NFL like that is something that you would do.” McAfee believes Russell Wilson is being disingenuous as he further says, “I think he’s trying to be and it’s like just be a f****** human. I think is all how we all wearing your own Jersey the training camp that’s, that’s kind of a movie like that’s not real life you know”
McAfee discusses Wilson with his guest on the show, Mark Schlereth. Schlereth and McAfee further discuss the precursors of success and mention a good coach and authenticity is key to any successful player. Mark Schlereth also mention why Sean Payton and his arrival will help the Broncos in the upcoming season.

Sean Payton is one of the most successful coaches in the NFL having served the Saints for more than a decade. Schlereth remembers when Payton joined the Broncos, he cleaned the house and banned the business people from the cafeteria. This reminded Mark Schlereth of a moment when a fan walked up to him and said what the problem was for them. Mark Schlereth says, “what’s the problem? He goes Sean Payton walked out of the building and the fear walked out with him. Oh, and I was like wow that’s a poignant statement.”
Payton brings the fear factor and the humility to bring the best out of his players. As Schlereth describes the most important aspect for Sean Payton. He wants to mitigate disasters for his own team, Payton will not put his own team and his player’s own position to take advantage of a tackle. As he it could lead to a fumble or a strip or a sack.
