Kansas City Chiefs has gone and added wide receiver Tyreek Hill to the list of franchise-altering trades happening during free agency. Hill will be signing with the Miami Dolphins franchise in a 4-year, $120 million deal in exchange for a package of draft picks. The trade developed quickly following stalling of the contract extension talks with the Chiefs. Hill’s representatives quickly sought permission from the Chiefs to seek a trade.

While the Chiefs were looking at getting some salary-cap relief following Hill’s contract extension, Hill had other plans. He has now ended up as the highest-paid receiver in the league, with his deal including almost $72.2 million in guaranteed money. He was part of the team, which helped the Chiefs capture their first Super Bowl title in 50 years.
Apart from team success, Hill also ended up being named in the All-Pro first team during the 2016, 2018, and 2020 campaigns. He becomes yet another example of how aggressive teams like the Chiefs have become desperate in competing for winning championships. The decision to move star receiver Hill was to make room for maximizing the ability to build around star QB Patrick Mahomes.
What does Tyreek Hill acquisition mean for Dolphins?
The trade for Hill was not an easy one for the Dolphins, who had to fend off a bidding war against the Green Bay Packers and the New York Jets. The 28-year-old has been a fearsome wideout in the NFL for his electrifying speed. He joins the team from South Beach, looking to add a dominant receiver like Hill to their offense.
While many NFL fans were not happy about his departure, GM Veach seems to have made a bold move. NFL fans let their feelings known on Twitter about his departure. It was following a tweet that reasons Hill’s departure was because of the impending Tik Tok collaboration between JuJu-Smith Schuster and Jackson Mahomes.
